Athletics

The athlete’s playing time will be influenced by attitude, effort, attendance, and conduct exhibited at games and practice. Athletes are expected to show dedication to their sport and team while practicing good sportsmanship and teamwork. Additionally, team size and league guidelines may affect playing time. Coaches have the primary discretion over playing time based on these tenets, and the athlete is not guaranteed a certain amount of playing time.

Guidelines
5th and 6th Grade:  the goal is for playing time to be split approximately equally

7th Grade:  the goal is for all athletes to play at least approximately 25% of the game or match

8th Grade:  the coach will determine the allocation of playing time

The Holy Family athletic program is run entirely by volunteers. Only through dedicated volunteers can we maintain a minimal cost structure (e.g. league fees) to run our program. We look for parents to volunteer their time to help with:

• Door and Concession Stand duty
  • all parents are expected to participate, and a schedule is provided once home games are known for each sport
• Serve as Coaches
  • head and assistants
• Serve on Sports Committees to help organize each program
  • e.g. Volleyball, Basketball, Concession Stand, Spaghetti Dinner, Tournaments, Gym supervisors, Little Dribblers, etc.
• Serve on the Athletic Board

All Holy Family School students and all Holy Family Religious Education students/parishioners in grades 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in good academic standing are eligible to play. Specific eligibility guidelines are provided in the Family Handbook.
